My radio habit and the podcasts I'm listening to now.

As you've probably guessed I listen to a lot of radio: conventional AM, FM and long-wave, short-wave, UHF, air and marine bands, CB, digital radio... you name it. I love to listen to foreign language channels, even though I don't speak Foreign. I adore the sound of broadcasts from Islamic countries and their Arabic languages; particularly the Call to Prayer.

I'm so excited by podcasting; it's a completely new type of radio. It's exciting for me because many of the strange and unusual SW and UHF broadcasts I used to listen to are either disappearing or are being encrypted.

For a taste of what I mean by strange and unusual see this link about the Lincolnshire Poacher, a particularly enigmatic type of radio station known as a Numbers Station. If you don't know about Numbers Stations or the Lincolnshire Poacher, do a bit of research - you'll be amazed at what's going on right under your nose! Here's some more detailed information and here's a site with a link to a radio program about these radio stations.

Here's a list of the podcasts I'm subscribed to now...

These links take you to the page listed in iTunes. You'll have to look around for the podcast button on each page - it's not always obvious.
